Since the year 2001, we have conducted the Meister Awards. These are the awards that are given to the best and worst of the online casino industry. When I mean the best - I mean the best. When I mean the worst - well, I mean the worst.
The awards are announced normally on the third week of January, and they cover the previous year. In the very beginning - the year 2001, we only had a few categories. Starting with the coveted Best Casino of the Year, Best Casino Group, to the worst casino and worst casino group.
As the years when by, our list grew to a massive thirty plus awards. Besides the best and worst casino awards we have awards for best customer service, worst customer service, best casino manager, worst casino manager, best player experience, worst player experience. We have awards for the biggest disappointment of the year, and believe me - this industry is rife with disappointments. We have a head-up-your-ass award (fourth point of contact award). We have a faceplant of the year award. Worst named casino. Stupid casino tricks. Fall from grace award. All sorts of goodies like that.
We also have awards for the forum members - forum highlights of the year, best casino rep, and the coveted most annoying member of the year.
We even top off the awards with the evil player award - this is given to that one player who went above and beyond the call of douchbaggery to be the biggest douchebag of the year. Believe me when I tell you there are many players scrambling for this award - just like there are rogue casino managers elbowing their way to online casino infamy with the worst casino of the year award.
So who do I choose to receive these awards? Prior to making any decisions on awards, I search through old threads, emails, complaints, news articles, announcements and such to find those prospective recipients.
I used to pick best casino from the forum responses and emails I'd get from players about their experiences. The best casino needs to be in operation longer than one year - we have the category Best New Casino for the new operations.
I would look at the casinos and rate them by their dedication to the Casinomeister philosophy, their excellence in over the top customer service, their handling of complaints, and their commitment to player trust and safety. 32Red won Best casino for quite a few years in a row - they even took the casino of the decade for the ought years.
Starting in 2005, we got the membership involved by me initiating a thread in our forum asking the members to give their input on the awardees - it's with this input that I short list the top five casinos - and from this point the CAG members vote in a secret ballot. The Casinomeister Advisory Group consists of about 30 top senior members.
I announce the best casino with the rest of the awards on that awesome day. And these awards are timeless - reading them you will understand. So feel free to peruse these pages of our awards - the only awards that matter to players of online casinos.
