“Provably fair is a way to prove that there is no way for Betcoin to manipulate the outcome of a randomly generated roll. This is done by using cryptographic hashes in which you provide a random seed, and we provide a random seed.
The client (player) is auto-assigned a seed that they can use or change. The client seed can be set to anything random that they want to use. The server also creates a random seed, which it keeps private. The client seed is then combined with the server seed in addition to one other constantly changing number: the total # of bets made by the player with the current seed pair. So the client seed, the server seed and the total # of bets are all combined into a hash which can be viewed before the spin takes place.
This hash can only be generated with these 3 pieces of information, and this hash will always produce the same roll when run through the publicly viewable roll algorithm. Because of this, the roll can be proved with all 3 pieces of information: the client seed, the server seed and the total # of bets made with the pair.
Before any roll, the player has 2 of these 3 pieces (client seed and total # of bets). The missing piece, the server seed, can be obtained by the player after every role. Once this is obtained, the player can confirm that the server did indeed use this key to generate the hash.”
About the Team and History
Betcoin.ag Casino was launched in 2013 and is a Curacao-licensed casino. The site was originally owned and operated by the game developer, Betsoft. In 2017, ownership of the casino changed. They are licensed in Curacao and have a solid reputation here at Casinomeister.
There was some confusion surrounding their online gambling license – although one of the casino’s reps helped explain the issue. Previously, their license was shown as “invalid.” We assumed this to mean they were pretending to have a license. However, the rep stated:
“This is absolutely a valid license. If it is invalid, it means it is being clicked from a region that is not permitted under the terms of the license (Curacao, Dutch West Indies, Australia, Aruba, Bonaire, France, The Netherlands, Saba, Statia, St. Maarten, Singapore, USA). If someone at your office has a VPN and tries it from an unrestricted region, it will come up as valid. We realize this is absurd and have been trying to get that fixed for years. It is an issue on their end, unfortunately. “
After checking this for ourselves, the rep is correct. Betcoin.ag Casino holds a valid online gambling license from the Government of Curacao – although it may not always appear if you access the site from a non-permitted region, as stated.
Complaints and Track Record
To ensure we’re being as transparent as possible: in the past, Betcoin.ag Casino had a poor reputation. Before they changed ownership, a thread on our forums — Please consider Rogue-ing Betsoft software and Warning about Betcoin.ag — and the related PAB brought to light a serious problem with Betsoft progressive jackpots and non-payment of winnings at the site.
We also had a player that ran into a severe problem. To make a long story short, the player was playing The Glam Life at Betcoin.ag, managed to get a five yacht payline, and, according to the paytable, should have won the then-current jackpot of roughly a million credits (about US$350,000 at that time). Instead, the casino gave him 1000 credits.
The casino’s response to the player was not at all clear. First, they said the spin was ineligible for the jackpot because it was a bonus spin. Unfortunately, nowhere does it state that a bonus spin was ineligible to win the jackpot (that has since been changed). The second response to the player was that “a jackpot only occurs if the max bet is made at the highest denomination.” Here again, the casino’s explanation is unsatisfactory because the game scales the jackpot winnings to the bet size:
It’s true that, in the past, Betcoin.ag Casino was not operating fairly, and up to the high standards we expect here at Casinomeister. However, since 2017, when they changed ownership AND management, the casino has enjoyed a perfect track record.
The casino claims to have 0 unanswered tickets and 0 unanswered emails – and they have zero unresolved complaints with us since they changed ownership. While they have to prove themselves to players who – understandably – think poorly of the site, they HAVE entirely turned things around. They are operating ethically and fairly – and we have a good relationship with the site today.
