By Casinomeister, Last updated Dec 14, 2023

Casinomeister's Verdict

Just another out of touch rogue casino. Rogue withdrawal terms – don’t need to say much but avoid this casino at all costs.

First Impression

Vernons Casino is like pretty much all bog-standard Playtech sites. There’s a wide variety of games and a live dealer casino, but other than that, nothing sticks out – which is a shame, as Vernons started its journey way back in 1925, when they were one of the UK’s few high street bookmakers.

Find out all you need to know about Vernons Casino right here in our review.

Pros

  • Nothing

Cons

  • Rogue payout terms

  • Aloof and out of touch with players

Bonuses and Promotions

Like any online casino, Vernons Casino offers a new-player deposit bonus, and below, we’re going to take a look at what this welcome bonus entails.

Welcome Offer

New players at Vernons Casino are eligible to claim a 100% matched deposit bonus up to the value of $200. This offer is available to all new players making a deposit using debit and credit cards or via bank transfer, and the minimum deposit to claim this bonus is $10.

Like all casinos, Vernons Casino applies terms and conditions to their welcome bonus offer, and there are other terms to be aware of. Full details can be found at the casino’s website.

No-Deposit & Free Spins Offers

At the time of writing, we weren’t able to find any no-deposit bonuses at Vernons Casino. If this changes in the future we’ll update this review accordingly.

VIP and Loyalty Programs

Due to new regulations brought in by the casino’s regulator, Vernons Casino no longer runs a VIP program. To replace it, they run more regular promos – but, in all honesty, these don’t appear to have won over players, and it feels a little lacking when it comes to the bonuses and promos the casino offers.

BANKING AND PAYMENT METHODS

In keeping with the rather disappointing service provided by Vernons casino, the site. Pretty short when it comes to payment methods to, offering just a small selection of banking options for you to choose from. They do accept credit and debit cards, but other than that, there is just a small handful of EWallets on offer, including Skrill and Neteller.

The minimum deposit is quite high, coming in at $20, and while the casino does not charge any fees to make deposits, you may incur charges from your payment provider.

Withdrawal Speed

When it comes to withdrawals, Vernons Casino has predatory terms – one of the many reasons why they are rogue here at Casinomeister – and there is a maximum monthly withdrawal limit of $20,000, which includes progressive jackpot wins – a clause that is simply unacceptable.

There is no locking withdrawal function available, and the casino does not process withdrawals over the weekend, so many players find themselves waiting a good few days for their cash out request to be processed.

Responsible Gaming

One of the big things we look for when writing any casino review is the responsible gambling tools on offer; it’s something we’re super passionate about here at Casinomeister, and we feel it’s the duty of all online casinos to offer their players a wide variety of easy-to-use and self-managed responsible gambling tools.

We were happy to find that Vernons Casino does indeed offer a wide variety of responsible gambling tools, and the most commonly used of these is the deposit limit feature. In fact, you’ve even prompted to set a deposit limit when you initially create your account.

A deposit limit allows you to easily and quickly limit the amount of money you can deposit into your online gambling account on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, and it’s highly useful for those who feel as though they may be tempted to spend more than they can afford.

In addition, the casino also lets you take a time-out period, and, in severe cases, users can choose to use the self-exclusion function to block access to their account completely for up to 5 years.

Customer Support - United Kingdom Focused?

While Vernons Casino isn’t one of our favourite online gambling platforms, we were fairly impressed with their customer support portal. Their customer support team can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which means you’ll never find yourself having to wait around to get an answer to your question or query.

The easiest and quickest way of contacting the customer support team at Vernons Casino is to use the live chat facility, as this connects you with a trained customer support representative in a matter of seconds. Through the live chat portal, you can usually get your questions or problems resolved right away, but if, for example, your query is more complex, you may be asked to send an email to the relevant department.

If you prefer not to use the live chat portal altogether, Vernons Casino does offer email support, although they do advise that it can take up to 24 hours for a member of the support team to respond to your query.

KYC

Due to the fact that Vernons Casino is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, they have to adhere to incredibly strict rules and regulations, especially when it comes to verifying the identity of their players.

Because of this, you should expect to be required to undergo what’s known as a Know Your Customer – KYC – check.

If you are asked to complete such a cheque, you will need to upload a copy of your passport or driving licence and provide the casino with a copy of a utility bill, bank statement or tax return dated within the last three months showing your full name and your full address.

Vernons Casino aren’t the quickest processing KYC documents, but they do state that they aim to process and either approve or deny all documentation within 48 hours – although, in our opinion, it is a little slow in today’s online gambling market.

Website Experience and Features

Desktop and Mobile Gaming

When writing this casino review, one of the first things we did was create an account on the website.

Some casinos make the procedure take a long time, but not here; we were able to create an account, validate our email, and make a deposit all in under three minutes.

The website is simple to use and navigate, and we particularly like the game filter features, which let you browse through all of the multiple software suppliers, themes, and game categories.

While there is no dedicated smartphone app available, the casino is entirely mobile optimized, allowing you to play all of your favorite games on the go. To get to the mobile casino, just open the Internet browser on your mobile device and navigate to the casino.

You’ll be taken to the mobile-friendly edition of the web, from which you can login or make an account. The mobile casino has hundreds, if not thousands, of games to choose from, and we found it to be just as quick and user-friendly as the desktop edition.

Brand games

Providers

Surprisingly for an online casino based in the United Kingdom, Vernons Casino offers games from a tiny selection of software providers. You’ll only find games from Playtech, IGT, Ash Gaming and Endemol Games.

Slots

As you’d expect, the vast majority of the games available at Vernons Casino are provided by Playtech. This does mean that players from the United Kingdom are able to enjoy titles that can be pretty hard to find – but, on the other side of the coin, it means the site lacks game diversity.

Live Casino

While writing this Vernons Casino review we found that the casino only offers live casino games from Playtech. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; Playtech is a pretty well-known online casino developer, and their live dealer games are fairly decent – but we think it’s fair to say they’re not up to the same levels of Evolution Gaming.

Still, you will find a fairly large selection of live dealer games to play at Vernons Casino – something we tested out while writing this casino review.

Vernons Casino offers all the classic online casino games, although the betting limits were quite high on some of the titles – so be warned that if you’re looking to play at the casino for lower stakes, you probably won’t find much to get excited about in the live dealer casino.

Table Games and Video Poker

Because Vernons Casino is primarily UK-focused, the selection of video pokies available at the site is relatively small. For some reason, Video Poker hasn’t really caught on in the UK like it has in the United States, and for this reason, you will find just a couple of games available at the casino including Jacks or Better and Deuces Wild.

Thankfully, there is a relatively decent range of other casino table games including the likes of oasis poker, Caribbean Stud Poker, Casino Hold’em and Red Dog.

Progressive Jackpots

Like many other casino reviews correctly state, Vernons Casino offers progressive games from Playtech; you won’t find jackpot games from any other software providers. This means you’ll be limited to playing video slots like Gladiator and Age of the Gods; you won’t find classics like Mega Moolah, unfortunately.

About the Online Casinos Team and History

Vernons Casino doesn’t attract a huge number of casino players – and that’s because they’re simply not one of the top online casinos; their stringent withdrawal limits, generally poor user experience and poor casino bonuses have left them struggling in an ever-competitive industry…

And while writing this Vernons Casino review, we were surprised to find that they’ve been around since 2011. This does make them somewhat of a veteran in the online gambling industry, but the casino software just hasn’t managed to take a big enough share of the industry to be seen as a really major player.

Vernons Casino holds licenses from the UK Gambling Commission and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, something we were surprised to find in this review. Vernons Casino is also Playtech-powered which is something that immediately turns off a lot of players.

Complaints and Track Record

Besides having a cock-up of a Baptism by Fire in August of 2012, Vernon’s casino is aloof and oblivious to player issues. And in fact after reading their terms and conditions, we are under the impression that they are ethically challenged.

Here is a segment from their withdrawal terms:

“6.7. If You win a progressive jackpot, We reserve the right to, provided all the terms and conditions of the Agreement have been observed, pay or procure the payment of the prize money to You in equal monthly instalments (sic) of £20,000. In lieu of the monthly payments, a progressive jackpot winner may be offered the option of selecting a reduced lump sum amount based on the present value of the future payments.”

That is not only unethical – it is near criminal. There is no reason why a casino would keep a player’s progressive win and pay it out £20k per month. To begin with, it is not the casino’s money. Progressive wins come from a progressive pooled funds. If this is a Playtech progressive win, the money comes from all Playtech casinos which have contributed to the pooled funds.

So let’s say you are the lucky winner of a £4 million progressive jackpot. Vernons casino will pay you in full within about 16 and a half years. Don’t believe that this can happen? There is a worse case than this that actually happened: Playtech’s Progressive Jackpot Scandal.

It is not the casino’s money, it belongs to the play and should be paid in one lump sum.

And to state that the player can choose to take a portion and give the rest back to the casino is laughable.

Perhaps the casino is confused with a state run lottery. This is totally different. If a state lottery is advertised at $4 million dollars, this is how much the actual amount of money would be worth in 20 years (interest and estimated inflation). So the actual jackpot in real money would be way lower than this. That is where the lump sum comes from. That is what the actual jackpot fund is.

So for an online casino to think that this is a term that they should be making up, this reflects on the lack of its operators ethics.

And for a gambling jurisdiction to allow this is a downright shame. This can really make you lose faith in this industry.
