Compulsive gambling acknowledged as a serious problem
Swedish Parliament has passed an amendment to the New Health Care Act requiring local councils to provide support and treatment for gambling addicts with an added focus on younger people.
The ruling states that gambling is a grave problem as damaging to the public health as alcohol and drug abuse.
The new law comes into effect January 2018.
