Hi as above Leovegas are asking for pictures of the front and back of expired or cancelled bank cards to process a withdrawal. Is that a normal or reasonable request?

I said that i dont have that info so now they want a letter from the bank confirming that i was the owner of that card. To be honest i cant even remember exactly which bank each of the cards were from.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

No idea on what the best way to proceed is.

But the above is exactly why i never use a debit card on any casino. Use them for Bookies like WH Coral etc. as you never have to show them pics you simply remove the card and add new debit card. Absolutely no need for all this crap these casinos ask for.

I always use Neteller for these foreign based casinos and if no money in it i would just use my debit card at the bookies sites as i could never deal with all this garbage with expired cards and letters from banks etc.

id say call out to the rep - i understand CCs - but if the bank is all the same acct no/same name I dont see the point; if theyre all different banks i can see the concern

if they were CCs you could ask the casino for the first 4 digits, that should tell you the bank and you can dble check against the BIN list

i know i wouldnt have the numbers or physical old bank cards - theyre cut and destroyed, usually by the bank and one would normally only get a new bank card if theyve been lost or stolen anyway

As I said on another thread I had terrible trouble with Vera & John after they wanted my cut up expired card I had to get a letter from the bank so it isn't unusual.

The annoying thing is i have been using paypal on Leo recently. Havent used a card in ages. Hence why the ones on there are the expired ones. Then out of the blue they ask for this. It isnt even a big withdrawal.

I’ve had similar requests from other casinos in the past. It’s fairly normal, and most banks should be able to provide you a letter confirming the cards are inactive.

But there should be no need to ask the bank in the first place. If they need a copy of the card they should do it on deposit.

Especially when a card has expired and you get a new one. Does not take much to work out that the card was expired so obviously the customer uses a new card. Banks tell you to destroy your old card once you get a new one. Yet these casinos expect you to keep old cards.

I've been playing online since the 1990's and have not once been asked for this.
You have to put the expiry date in to make a deposit, if they want a copy of the card then they should ask before it expires. I would rather take them to court for my money than piss about getting letters from a bank.

I can never understand this as when you verify your account the expiry date is there for them to see on the card in question along with your name etc. Therefore if the account was verified along with the card and you have been depositing with it. They have been satisfied it was yours so why the need to reinstate any more info. I have had the same request a few times when my card expired but I had preempted what might happen and took screenshots before I destroyed it. Point being though it will look no different from the original shot they already have.

Honestly, some casinos are really shooting themselves in the foot sometimes with ludicrous asks...

If there is some suspicion, then they have to do due diligence, but this should be the exception not the rule..

I believe thebandit is having the same issue.

Tens if thousands deposited. And a 5k withdraw withheld. Bang out of order. If they can't prove the account belongs to you or are going to push through stupid requests like this then they should return the deposits

 yeah 'If you don't believe the card ever belonged to me, you'd better return all the deposits back to the card for the last two years'
love to see some of my haunts do this :D

As much as I agree with this, you would think he would know to verify his cards without being asked!

Its the same with videoslots, rizk, and most of the usual casinos, usually a statement showing usage of that card will suffice, also your sort code will tell what bank and branch.

A bank statement should be enough proof although I don't think the full card number is shown for a debit card transaction, but also not everybody keeps old statements beyond a year or two.

Morning Lads,

I’ll go into the nitty gritty of expired cards.

First of all, the reason why some might get the awkward request for expired cards is the fact that some banks issue new cards way in advance of the expiry date on the card. When this happens, some banks tend to block the previous card from future transactions. So you get the awkward convo on chat asking to replace the Card’s expiry date or to remove it.

Now in order to do that, most casinos and I know personally that not all follow this rule will ask to verify the card front and back before removal. Yet some people would have already binned the card by the time they come on chat.

The usual solution is a bank statement linked to the card (PDF normally does the trick) showing your Full name and bank logo as the header showing a transaction from or to that card to the respective casino. Ask a CS guy for the last date and check somewhere close as the processing is never at the exact time.

The only time a bank letter is asked for normally is when a customer claims his card has been lost and the bank issued in a new one. This is to have a valid document and reason to “cancel” or block the card from some shady guy who happens to sign up using your name and depositing.

I’m writing from my phone so if I missed anything, just lemme know and I’ll try to reply.

I’m writing from experience working in Payments :)

cheers for the response.
I can't speak for all banks or other countries, but if this is the case it seems redundant, as once a new card is issued (or reported lost or stolen) - here at least - the old card is immediately cancelled - meaning, some shady ne'er-do-well couldnt deposit using it regardless as it's become a dead card
unless I'm missing something...known to happen :p

Some Maltese banks don't disable the card till the actual expiry.. Case in point, I've two cards with the same number and different expiry date yet both work.. The bank told me use whichever you want :) (So much for security)...

And I know a UK bank or two that allow so.

lol, that's a terrible system (referring to the banks')

I remember this with Skillonnet a couple of years ago. Basically I had lost a bank card and got a new one. Processed a withdrawal to the new card(having deposited with it as well) and was asked for copies of the old and new cards. Obviously couldn't provide old card, they wanted a letter from the bank confirming that both cards were mine and copies of statements from the old cards showing deposits being made. Took almost 4 weeks to sort out, never played on that network again. It was completely pointless.

Without going into specific accounts, why do you ask people for cards that have expired, when you have the expiry date and know banks tell people to destroy the old one when they get a new one? If you know the expiry date (which you do) then why not have a system generated email sent 2 months before the date to tell customers they need to verify it before it is destroyed, if it hasn't already been verified?

Exactly - another case of having to wipe the backside of a compliance department when they have missed requesting something previously.

I had this too - a half hour appointment at the bank for a bespoke letter while they um and ah about whether or not they charge for the letter.

Tell you what Leo Vegas, how about we charge you for the time it takes to do it rather than holding our withdrawals to ransom to correct your mistake.
