Relatively unknown Taiwan player bests a field of 75

James Chen, a relatively unknown player from Taiwan, has taken down the HK$ 80,000 buy-in Macau Poker Cup High Roller competition, besting a field of 74 other competitors, many of them more experienced.
His reward for the victory was a check for HK$ 1,704,000 – about US$220,000.
Chen dominated the final table action after starting out as chip leader. The event developed into one of the fastest final tables ever at the MPC, lasting just 75 minutes, including a rapid-fire heads up of just 5 minutes as Chen demolished his final opponent, Japan's Makoto Yoshimichi.
Making his victory all the more remarkable, the final table included three respected and very experienced players who are regular live tournament competitors on the Asian circuit – Liang Yu, Tom Alner and Scott Davies.
Other final table pay-checks were:
Makoto Yoshimichi HK$1,117,000
Tom Alner HK$726,000
Liang Yu HK$559,000
Wayne Zhang HK$391,000
Yan Cai HK$335,000
Scott Davies HK$279,000
Xiang Zhu HK$251,500
Huidong Gu HK$223,500
