Top Californian Regulator Moves On

Richard Schuetz heads for the Bahamas

The California Gambling Control Commission continued to lose top management experience and talent this week when its high-profile executive director Richard Schuetz headed for greener pastures in the Bahamas.
InfoPowa readers will recall the conflict of interest considerations earlier this year which resulted in the resignations of Commissioner Tina Littleton and later Commission chief Richard Lopes.
Schuetz's departure was signalled by an announcement Monday from Alan Dutch, chairman of the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission, revealing that Schuetz has been selected to fill the executive director post at the Commission with effect from September 1.
The Commission was formed earlier this year following legislation authorising the introduction of three land casinos for Bermuda, and a regulatory body to oversee activities and licensing.
Dutch said that the Commission had chosen Schuetz for his expertise and track record, which embraces both the operational and regulatory side of the gambling business.
