January 14 2016 is Betfair E-Day

UK online gambling group Betfair, which is about to merge with Paddy Power to create an i-gaming powerhouse, has begun advising its Canadian punters that it plans to exit the market by January 14 2016.
From that date, Canadian residents will no longer be permitted to place wagers or register with the betting exchange. Additionally, pending wagers will be voided as of this date and the funds returned to punters.
The company has advised Canadian clients in an email to ensure that they clear out their accounts before January 14.
The email notes: "We are sorry to inform you that as of 14th January 2016, Betfair's products will no longer be available to residents of Canada.
"On 14th January 2016 Canadian residents will no longer be able to place bets and Betfair shall close it's website. All outstanding Sportsbook bets will be cancelled, you will no longer be able to place new exchange bets and all gaming products will be blocked. Please note that all outstanding Exchange bets will remain in place until 14th January 2016, so please ensure you manage any positions you have open in advance of this date."
