Regulator wants to ensure that the burgeoning industry is properly controlled and supervised

The fast-growing eSports vertical has prompted the Italian gaming regulator Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM), to announce that in the interests of exercising and supervising the booming sector it intends to issue further eSports betting licenses.
The announcement follows news this week that the Italian SNAI gambling group has been awarded the first eSports licence for the Italian market.
The first eSports licenses will cover the DOTA 2 and League of Legends franchises, and operators will be required to advise on which eSports events they will be offering markets. ADM will add these to the betting schedule along with the results in real-time through the national central system.
A key requirement obliges operators to integrate solutions that give the regulator full access to information for inspection and monitoring purposes, especially in regard to live events. This will help the regulator to oversee integrity issues and detect any suspicious betting patterns.
