One Drop Poker Heads To Monte Carlo

This could be the biggest charity poker tournament yet

Guy Laliberté's successful water charity poker tournament initiative One Drop is set to raise even larger sums of money for struggling communities with an initiative planned for the target-rich environment of the wealthy and famous – Monte Carlo.
The indefatigable entrepreneur used the World Series of Poker over the weekend to launch a new Euro 1 million buy-in event which will exclude professional poker players.
Titled The Monte Carlo Big One, the event has been scheduled for October 13-17, 2016 at the world-famous Casino de Monte Carlo, and there will be no cap on the number of folks capable and prepared to ante up the expensive buy-in…along with a re-entry opportunity on the first day of the competition.
The timing is good – just after the Monaco Yacht Show and during the Monaco International Clubbing Show. The tournament will be part of the Monte Carlo One Drop Extravaganza, a week-long festival of poker action, VIP experiences and networking opportunities.
Launching the event, Laliberté said:
"From the beginning we knew that the Big One for One Drop was a unique event. This year, by shifting the focus to recreational players, we're looking to bring fun and innovation to charitable giving."
Euro 111,111 of each buy-in will go directly to One Drop to help bring clean water to people in need in third world nations. That means that Euro 888,889 will go directly into the prize pool, as no other fees are deducted.
Adding to the prestige of the event, Laliberté is having a one-off winner's bracelet crafted by a leading international designer
