Detention could stretch up to 37 days before charges are laid
According to the Shanghai Daily, three Australian Crown Resorts Ltd's executives remain detained in a Chinese detention centre.
The head of the Australian casino group's VIP International team, Jason O'Connor, was identified as one of the three Australian detainees by officials, who said it was presently unclear when or if charges will be laid and what those charges might be.
According to Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, consular officials visited O'Connor and another Australian, who was not identified, earlier this week.
"They are in good health. Their well-being is looked after," Bishop said during a media conference. "It's a detention center, somewhat like a prison, so the conditions are adequate but not comfortable at all."
"They have no complaints about the way they are being treated and we've passed on this information to their families."
Chinese authorities have up to 30 days to lay charges against the detainees, which may be extended by another week for further investigation.
