More Chinese Online Gambling Arrests In Cambodia

19 Chinese nationals detained in police sting operations

The police in the Cambodian city of Siem Reap have reported the arrest of 18 men and a woman – all Chinese nationals – in a sting operation on three venues which had been providing illegal online gambling services.
Speaking to the Phnom Penh Post, Chea Kamsan, deputy provincial immigration police chief, said that those arrested were being questioned and processed following police raids implemented as a consequence of an investigation involving an uncover operative.
He noted that the 19 would be tried at the Siem Reap Provincial Court — unlike Chinese nationals arrested running online gambling rings targeting Chinese punters, who are often repatriated to China for prosecution — because in this case the crime had been committed in Cambodia.
