26,500 accounts compromised

UK national lottery operator, Camelot, has revealed a breach in security affecting around 26,500 customer accounts.
The cyber-breach reportedly affects the personal details of thousands of customers, with some account details having been altered. In addition, customers were warned that the last four-digits and expiry date of their debit cards may have been accessed.
The operator, in collaboration with The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) have launched a criminal investigation.
The collective bodies advise customers ensure they reset their Camelot password along with those of all other unrelated services where customers have used the same or a similar password.
In addition, the NCSC suggests concerned customers look on services such as HaveIBeenPwnd.com to see if their username or email address has been involved in a breach and advises immediate action it they find their details listed.
A brief notification on The National Lottery website reads:
"Important player notice:
As part of our security monitoring, we have seen some suspicious activity on a small number of players' accounts. We have directly contacted players whose accounts have been affected, but are advising all players to change their passwords and improve password strength as a precaution."
