With launch of professional and amateur competitions

La Française des Jeux (FDJ) will develop and launch a professional eSports competition dubbed "FDJ Master league" as well as an amateur event under the moniker of the "FDJ Open Series" for launch in March 2017.
In addition, a new website, FDJ eSport, will facilitate free player registrations, provide information on and broadcast the events in conjunction with wider broadcasts across Webedia's web-TV.
"We have the know-how to ensure integrity in sports for the development of a healthy e-sport market," Stéphane Pallez, President and chief executive officer of FDJ, said.
The company aims to recruit a million new players by 2020 with plans to invest Euro 500 million in innovation and digital over the next five years to meet the growing interest in new verticals such as esports.
FDJ wants to participate and encourage regulatory discussions and proposals surrounding the eSports vertical in the French market, saying figures from research agency Newzo estimate the eSports market to be worth Euro 20 million per annum with expected growth of 10 percent per year.
