Cyber Attack Targets European Bookmakers

By Casinomeister, Last updated Jan 31, 2014

Widespread blackout affects operators in England, Austria, Malta and Italy

What has been described as "one of the most significant attacks of the last 15 years" aimed at European bookmakers reportedly took place this past weekend

Federbet, an organisation of European casino owners and bookmakers, said in a statement that the attack was "unique and very strong" and affected operators in England, Austria, Malta and Italy.

Difficulties experienced seem to have been limited to the acceptance of bets and Federbet has assured that safeguards on personal information held strong, however, investigations are continuing.

Authorities from several jurisdictions will reportedly collaborate to bring the culprits to book.
