U.k. Gambling Bill Passes House Of Lords Committee Stage (update)

By Casinomeister, Last updated Jan 17, 2014

Twenty amendments suggested but not adopted

Tuesday’s House of Lords deliberations on new UK legislation requiring online operators accessing British punters to pay UK taxes and take out secondary licensing (see previous InfoPowa reports) saw the bill successfully pass through the committee stage after detailed examination.

Twenty amendments to the UK Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Bill were put forward but not adopted, including a proposal by Viscount Falkland to extend the provisions of the horse racing levy to offshore bookies, and an attempt by Baroness Howe to place restrictions on financial transactions with unlicensed operators.
