Califano gets 15 months in jail for his role in 44wager.com online sportsbetting ring

Silverio Califano (53) one of almost 20 defendants charged for involvement in the Costa Rica-based 44wager.com bust (see previous InfoPowa reports) was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant Thursday to 15 months imprisonment after pleading guilty last year.

His period of imprisonment is accompanied by three further years of supervised release, a fine of $4,000 and forfeiture of $40,000.

Prosecutors have claimed that 44wager.com generated revenues of almost $1.7 million from October 2010 to June 2011 alone.
