New Record For Macau Millions Live Tournament

1,804 register for major Pokerstars event in Asia

Pokerstars' top Asian live tournament, the Macau Millions, broke all previous entry records at the PokerStars LIVE Macau at the City of Dreams Friday when it was revealed that 1,804 hopefuls had ponyed up the buy-in of HK$2,200 ($285) and registered to play over the six entry days.

The entry list overtook the previous record set in 2011 by more than 500 entries and boosted the prize pool to HK$3,499,760 ($450,000), which will give the ultimate winner of the competition a take-home of HK$550,000 ($71,000).

With a re-entry structure and six starting days, the tournament offered players ample opportunities to participate, and these were clearly taken up.

With the six starting days over, competition in Day 2 was fierce and whittled the field down to just 121 players, led by Tai Tan on 364,500 chips. His closest rivals are Terry Fan in second place with 346,500 chips, and Tian Hao, who finished the day with 331,500 chips.

Saturday will see the field play down to a final table.
