Equipment seized from illegal online gambling operators smashed by Malaysian police

Malaysian police in the South Seberang district this week destroyed 766 desktop computers seized in recent years by the police in raids on illegal internet cafe gambling outlets.

Local commander Superintendent Shafien Mamat told reporters that the raids had resulted in the successful prosecution of 200 persons for illegal gambling activity in the district, and he urged local communities to continue to report suspicious activity.

"This will help us curb crime activities at the Internet cafes as many of these places have been used as venues for gambling," he said. "We assure the public that their identities will be protected."
