Cleveland Police In Fresh Internet Cafe Raids

By Casinomeister, Last updated May 2, 2014

Operation is spread over several counties

Cleveland enforcement officials mounted a series of internet cafe raids across several counties Thursday in a continuing investigation that started last year with the arrest and conviction of internet cafe owner Martin Sarcyk (see previous InfoPowa reports).

According to court records, a county grand jury secretly indicted Sarcyk on 14 new charges Monday, including gambling, money laundering and possession of criminal tools used in a major online gambling ring.

The company was also raided in 2012 as part of a similar investigation and more than $80,000 was seized.

The Ohio Department of Public Safety, the United States Secret Service, the Bureau of Criminal Identification and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's office are cooperating in the investigation.

No further details were available when InfoPowa went to press Friday morning.
