To allow court decision in the GBGA challenge without pressure of the initial implementation date

The Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association's (GBGA) challenge on the UK Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014 which was heard before Lord Justice Green in the High Court this week, (see previous InfoPowa report) has seen the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) postpone the implementation of the controversial Act until November 1, 2014 despite the court rejecting the GBGA's request for such a postponement.

A statement on the UKGC website said: "Due to a High Court challenge to the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014, DCMS will be taking the necessary steps to postpone this legislation coming into force until . This will allow a judgment to be made without undue time pressure."
