11 arrested as internet football betting enterprise is shuttered

Hanoi police have shuttered an online sports betting ring which they claim is the biggest yet uncovered in the Bac Tu Liem region, arresting 11 men aged 23 to 49 years.

A report in Thanh Nien News reveals that the men will be charged with organised crime and gambling offences related to a website titled 332.com, founded by ring leader Nguyen Anh Tuan (23) and specialising in football betting.

In a police raid large numbers of cell phones, laptops and tablets were seized.

The crime of organising illegal gambling is punishable by jail terms of up to ten years and the confiscation of property in Vietnam.
