Little to celebrate in November numbers

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement released the state's gambling statistics for November 2014 Friday, presenting a set of figures that show another sizeable decline in year-on-year revenue.

Total gaming win from the Atlantic City casino resorts – including discontinued operators – came in at $202.5 million in November 2014 compared to $225.7 million November 2013, reflecting a 10.3 percent decrease.

Splitting the statistics between land and online revenues, land casino win was $193.8 million, whilst Internet win was $8.7 million.

The latter figure brings year-to-date internet revenues to $120.4 million, made up of online poker at 24.1 percent (at $1.87 million down 5 percent sequentially), and online casino at 75.9 percent with revenue of $6.86 million – down 8.8 percent on the preceding month.

The PartyPoker – Borgata alliance continues to dominate the internet vertical in New Jersey, holding a 38.5 percent market share with internet revenues for November of $3.36 million. In the year to date the alliance has reported $40.69 million in internet revenues.

The Tropicana took second place in the internet sector, claiming a 25.5 percent share of the market on $2.22 million during November, with Golden Nugget and Betfair following with 17.2 percent and 6.2 percent of the market respectively, and Caesars Interactive struggling lower down and reporting total internet revenues for November of $1.10 million.

The regulator reported that new player signups in November reached 27,099, a welcome 5.7 percent rise over the preceding month. That brings total New Jersey online gambling sign ups since legalisation in November 2013 to 506,172 accounts.
