Lawmakers set online gambling tax at 15 percent on the difference between wagers and pay-outs

Bulgarian lawmakers passed amendments to the country's Gambling Act in its final reading Friday, expanding the scope of the tax provisions to include lottery organisers, bingo, keno and similar genres.

Lottery organisers will pay 15 percent on turnover if the lottery is held in casinos or on other gambling-specific premises, whilst online gambling, keno and bingo operators will be required to pay tax at 20 percent on the difference between revenue and winnings paid out.

The Novinite agency reports that the amendments are expected to deliver an additional five million levs a year in tax revenue.

In related news, the Bulgarian State Commission on Gambling added another ten sites to its unauthorised operator blacklist, including domains operated by Digimedia, Annexio and BetUS, taking the total on the list to 323.
