Adelson Ally Queries Prospective A.g. On Internet Gambling

Sen. Lindsey Graham again shows his opposition to online gambling

Sen. Lindsey Graham, a key political ally of land casino baron Sheldon Adelson in his attempts to ban online gambling in the United States, appeared to show his bias on the issue during confirmation hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee this week for proposed US Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Graham, who is the sponsor for Adelson's Restoration of the American Wire Act in the Senate, persistently quizzed Lynch on her familiarity with the Justice Department's about-turn on the Wire Act in December 2011, when the Department acknowledged that the 1961 law applied only to sports betting (see previous InfoPowa reports).

During his barrage of questions, the senator reportedly used popular but unsubstantiated Adelson arguments against online gambling such as terrorist activity and money laundering, although the AG candidate remained diplomatically neutral on the issue.
