Portuguese Regulated Online Gambling This Year?

By Casinomeister, Last updated Jan 23, 2015

Following European Commission approval, the country is expected to implement its online gambling regulatory regime before mid-2015

Last year's European Commission approval of Portugal's proposed law for the licensing and regulation of online gambling (see previous InfoPowa report) could result in the implementation of the new regime by mid-2015, industry observers have speculated.

Interest in the Portuguese possibilities sharpened this week when the poker information site Pokerfuse flagged a 888Poker promo scheduled for launch February in which Portugal is included in the nation-specific schedule.

But this market will not be a cheap one for operators; the government intends to harvest tax revenues of up to 30 percent of GGR.
