Partypoker And Borgata Working On Site Crashes

Causes yet to be revealed, but business remains strong

Online poker managers at PartyPoker and Borgata online gambling sites have used forum posts to assure New Jersey players that every effort is being made to sort out the system crashes that have caused a furore recently.

Discussions around the MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class) errors this week suggest that the faults occur when something happens within the Microsoft Foundation Class library that is not anticipated by the software.

The knowledgeable publication Online Poker Update reports that "…the most common causes are bugs in the software, memory leaks, or bugs in a program the software is attempting to access."

The incidents infuriate players when a crash happens during a hand, often kicking them off a virtual table or unable to view their hole cards when they log back in.

Although the root cause for the trouble has yet to be revealed, OPR reports that it could be related to poor memory allocation.

"Relative to other NJ-based poker products, Party / Borgata consumes a substantial amount of memory (more than double that of WSOP/888, and on par with programs such as Skype). This usage increases dramatically with each new table opened," the publication notes.

In an independent assessment arrived at after collecting anecdotal data from players, OPR concludes that the problem is "prevalent" and could involve hundreds of players on multiple occasions.

Fortunately for the poker providers, whilst players have been critical of the flaw they have continued to give their business to PartyPoker and Borgata, where 7-day average cash game traffic growth is 5 percent ahead of rivals and up 32 percent since end October according to independent monitor Pokerscout.
