Serious bets in the millions of dollars changed hands

Kerwin Sande, the Denver online sports betting operator who pleaded guilty before a U.S. Federal Court has been sentenced to 15 months in jail by Federal Judge Raymond Moore.

Sande catered to an elite group of punters many of which were members of upmarket Golf Clubs in the Denver area.

Costa Rica website Play-Fast-Sports.com was used to process bets from 2006 to 2013, bets said to be in the tens of millions of dollars.

Included in the plea deal was the forfeiture of Sande's Denver home, nine motorbikes, six luxury cars and $600 000 in cash.

Sande was also given three years of supervised release for illegal gambling and money laundering. During this time he may not own or control a gambling business including online, casino or sports betting.

He has also been ordered to enroll in a psychological health treatment programme on completion his jail term.
