To protect vulnerable sectors, specifically minors

A multi-party majority of the Spanish Senate has brought a joint motion requesting the Spanish Government to immediately further progress the Regulation on Responsible Online Gambling Advertising to protect vulnerable sectors of the public, DLA Piper reports.

Proposals put forward in the motion include:

• Banning the broadcast of online gambling advertising during specific times as well as from appearing in web pages, mobile apps and other media platforms that are easily accessible by minors.

• Emphasising awareness campaigns on the risks of gambling.

• Restricting sports sponsorships with online gambling firms.

Under the rules of a Senate Joint Motion, the Spanish Government is obliged to report back to the Senate in no more than six months on the matter.
