Mark Ruff gets 9 years in jail

U.S. District Judge Frank Geraci sentenced online sports betting ring leader Mark Ruff to nine years in jail Wednesday on charges that he was the key figure in an illegal $75 million online sports betting ring, money laundering and for attempting to blackmail a pro hockey player, Thomas Vanek.
Ruff, along with his brother Joseph and Paul Borelli were arrested in a police swoop last year (see previous InfoPowa report). Joseph Ruff subsequently pleaded guilty and will soon be sentenced, whilst Borelli is reportedly on the verge of entering a plea bargain with federal prosecutors.
