In first half of the year

Malaysian deputy communication and multimedia (MCMC) minister Datuk Jailani Johari said this week that the ministry has blocked 301 illegal online gambling websites in the first half of 2015 following the submission of 940 applications.
"The ministry and the MCMC will not keep quiet, but will act by censoring and blocking online gambling or any other inappropriate websites to combat the online gambling activity which had raised public concern," Jailani said.
The comments were made during the launch of a new technology centre in Bandar Baru Bangi and represent a marked increase in Malaysia's offensive against illegal online gaming with the MCMC reporting the blocking of 325 online gaming websites for the full 2014 year after receiving 538 applications.
