888 Joins The Exodus From Portugal

Online gambling group follows William Hill and 24hBet as Portugal regulates and taxes

Online gambling group 888 is exiting the Portuguese market this week, according to an email notification addressed to its affiliate marketers, which reads:
"We are writing to inform you that due to recent regulation changes in Portugal, we have decided to terminate the offering of our services to players from Portugal.
"We have therefore stopped all marketing activity in Portugal as of today, and ask you to discontinue targeting and cease all marketing activities towards players in Portugal with immediate effect."
Companies have expressed reservations about the high tax rate imposed on the newly licensed and regulated Portuguese online gambling market (see previous InfoPowa reports).
