William Hill Look for New Chief Financial Officer

Last month William Hill plc announced the recruitment of a new Chief Financial Officer, with Adrian Marsh set to take up the position, replacing current incumbent Ruth Prior, at some point as of yet to be determined, later this year.

However, it appears that the rise of the global Coronavirus pandemic has scuppered  the employment of Marsh in this role, with William Hill reporting that Marsh has subsequently told them he will no longer be taking up the position. Marsh reportedly  stating that given the current unprecedented circumstances, he did not want to move jobs and would therefore stay at the packaging company DS Smith.

As a result of this news, Ruth Prior who is currently working her notice period at the bookmaker, will continue to remain in position as Chief Financial Officer, until such time that the board at William Hill have identified a new successor to her position.

Commenting on the news that Marsh will no longer join Hills, William Hill plc Chairman, Roger Devlin, said: “Whilst we note the reasons for Adrian’s decision, William Hill is focused on taking the necessary steps required in these unprecedented times to protect the interests of its stakeholders. We will provide an update in due course.”

Marsh who has decided to remain at DS Smith, has had his resignation withdrawn, with Chief Executive Officer of the FTSE 100 listed company, Miles Roberts, commenting: “We are pleased that Adrian will be remaining with DS Smith, providing continuity and stability in this very important time.”
