Speculation that Aussie clampdown has made for a difficult market for operators
Aussie online punters on the books at Intertain's Vera and John online casino have been advised by email that the casino is closing is virtual doors to players Downunder.
In an advisory this week, players were told:
"We're always sorry to say goodbye, but the time has come. Due to a business decision, Vera&John will no longer be able to offer its services in your jurisdiction. Your account will officially be closed in one week.
"As of today, you will no longer be able to make deposits to your Vera&John account.
"Any funds which have not already been removed from your account can still be transferred to your preferred payment provider within the next week."
Industry observers are speculating that the withdrawal of V&J services is a consequence of changing circumstances in the Australian market following the federal government's acceptance of the O'Farrell Review's recommendations, which herald a tightening of enforcement on online gambling.
Amaya could join the Aussie exodus; the company's CFO Daniel Sebag recently told reporters that could soon be compelled to block Aussie punters, who generate around 2.5 percent of Amaya's revenues.
