The Dutch Gaming Regulator, the KSA ( kansspelautoriteit ) have taken their first action against iGaming affiliate sites who actively promote the activity of online gambling in Holland, with the KSA investigating 44 such sites.
Of the 44 affiliate sites that were investigated, 26 were found to specifically advertise gambling to Dutch residents, an activity that is currently prohibited in the country.
Of those 26 sites, 20 sites immediately stopped doing so after the KSA drew their attention to their illegal behaviour. Three websites did this only after there was a threat of imposing a penalty. The investigation is still ongoing at the other three websites.
However, with the passing of the Remote Gambling Bill in the Dutch Senate back on 19th February earlier this year, the Dutch market for iGaming is soon to open up, with 90 licenses / permits being available to be applied for.
Thus, allowing the proper regulation of legal online gambling within Holland, which will be regulated by the KSA.
