Borneo Police Destroy Gambling Computers

By Casinomeister, Last updated Sep 5, 2014

967 computer sets were seized in 2013, and 2,023 in the first eight months of this year

The destruction this week of 385 computer sets and other equipment seized in online gambling raids by the police in Borneo once again highlights the energy that enforcement agencies in the region are devoting to the elimination of online gambling.

Supervised by police officers, the largely new equipment was battered into pieces by a front end loader and then buried Wednesday. A police spokesman said that the current batch "removed permanently from the market" had been exhibits in court cases that have now been finalised.

The batch is just the tip of the iceberg, however; police revealed that last year 967 computers were seized, whilst in the first eight months of 2014 alone that number had jumped to 2,023.

Illegal operators made such good profits that they could afford to keep buying new equipment, a police investigator opined, adding that this made the destruction of confiscated equipment necessary to ensure it did not reappear on the black market.
