Complaint on email promotion upheld

Petfre (Gibraltar) Ltd, trading as on line gambling operator Betfred, has been warned by the UK Advertising Standards Authority regarding an email promo circulated during the recent Euro 2016 football championships.
There were two aspects which triggered complaints, and ASA upheld one of them, finding that the offer was misleading and ordering that it must not be used again without the necessary amendments.
The Authority's adjudicators concluded that the email offer for new customers was not clear enough in terms of showing the full terms and conditions, namely that the inducement was only for their first bet.
"Because of the omission of such a significant condition and the misleading impression given by the ad, we concluded that the promotion was misleading," they ruled.
