North West based Bookmaker BetFred, founded by Fred Done, have announced that they will donate profits from all over the counter bets made in their shops on Tuesday to charity. BetFred who have 1,630 shops throughout the UK will be donating all profits made to a £4m appeal for a vital piece of equipment which helps children facing life threatening conditions.
Tuesday 12th March marks the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival and as such business is sure to be brisk, which will see a tidy six figure sum being donated by BetFred to the iMRI Appeal as a result. The iMRI Appeal was setup to raise £4m so as to enable Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to purchase a state of the art Magnetic Resonance Imaging ( MRI ) scanner. Details of the appeal can be seen here.
Commenting on the move by BetFred, owner and founder of the betting firm, Fred Done commented: “It is humbling that I’m in a position to help with this appeal for much-needed equipment. From my own sad experience, I know how important it is to have world-class equipment available to help save the lives of your loved ones. I feel privileged that I can help and I do hope the best scanner money can buy will end up saving the lives of seriously ill children brought to Manchester from all over the country.”
Done last year sadly lost his wife Mo, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
