Atlantic City Land Casino Revenues Down 6.6 Percent In July

Another tough month for New Jersey operators

The latest performance statistics from the New Jersey land gambling regulator disappointingly show that revenues generated by Atlantic City operators declined 6.6 percent y-o-y to $264.2 million in July.

The numbers do not include $10.1 million generated by the state's legalised online gambling interests.

According to figures released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, the state's regulated online poker rooms and casino sites generated total revenue of $10.07million during July.

That compares with a total of $9.5 million in June (see previous InfoPowa report).

Looked at on a year-to-date basis, land revenues are down on last year by 7.2 percent at $1.55 billion, excluding the $73.1 million generated by the state's online gambling operators.

With recent announcements that the Showboat, Revel and Trump Plaza casinos are to close their doors in the near future, the chance of meaningful improvements moving ahead appears remote.

In July only four of the Atlantic City casinos – Golden Nugget, Resorts, Harrahs and Tropicana reported positive numbers.

Brian Cullingworth

Infopowa news was a staple of Casinomeister’s news from 2000 until 2019. Brian Cullingworth was the main writer, contributor, and was one of the most knowledgeable persons I have ever known involved in the online casino industry.

We first met in January 2001 at the ICE in London where I observed him going booth to booth interviewing online casino, software, and licensing jurisdiction representatives. Brian was also heavily involved with our forum as “Jetset“, he was involved as an informal consultant to eCOGRA, the OPA, and was a player advocate who assisted countless aggrieved players with his connections to industry folks. He also published “Casino Cautions” via Infopowa news for quite a number of years. These can be found in our news archives.

His passing in February 2019 was a dark day for us. He will be forever missed.
