37 arrested as two illegal internet gambling shops busted

Sibu police in the Sarawak province of Malaysia carried out further "Operation Dadu" raids against illegal online gambling shops over the weekend, arresting 37 people and seizing 36 computers and other evidence in two raids in the city.

Following the raids, District police chief ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi claimed that his officers have eliminated 30 percent of all known internet gambling outlets in the city since January this year, when he took command.

Thirty of those arrested were women, two of whom were the managers of the two centres. All but the two managers were released after statements were taken.
