More Delays For Dutch Online Gambling Legalisation?

Political debate slows progress through Parliament
The legalisation of Dutch online gambling seems to be a process that is taking an extraordinary amount of time to conclude due to continual delays and apparently an inability on the part of the politicians to agree on tax and licensing eligibility issues.
The newspaper Dutch News.nl reported over the weekend that legalisation is now unlikely to occur before 2017 as parliamentarians continue to disagree and charitable bodies express concern that legalisation will adversely impact their income from traditional lottery activity.
In April this year regulator Kansspelautorieit revealed that over 200 applicants have lined up for Dutch online gambling licenses (see previous InfoPowa report). The KSA estimated that Netherlands punters spend between Euro 250 million and Euro 800 million on illegal online gambling every year.
