Flutter Entertainment appoint Former Labour Deputy as Responsible Gambling Adviser

Flutter Entertainment the owners of brands such as Paddy Power and Betfair have announced the appointment of vocal gambling critic and former UK Labour Party Deputy Leader Tom Watson, in a role as an advisor to the group on their responsible gambling policies.
In a surprise move announced by Flutter yesterday, Watson will be given full remit to identify and suggests solutions to all aspects and areas of the business, from the shop floor in betting shops operated by the company, to their considerable presence online.
Speaking about his appointment, Watson stated: “I have a long-standing interest in this sector and consistently called for action to protect those that may be potentially vulnerable to harm.”
“In taking on this role in Flutter, I intend to get under the bonnet of the business – and the industry more widely – to understand how best to further develop and implement industry leading responsible gambling policies. I strongly believe that working collaboratively with Flutter in this way will allow me to continue to drive positive change.”
While Flutter Entertainment’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Jackson said: “Bringing in someone with Tom’s gambling reform background is an important part of my commitment to lead the industry’s race to the top.”
