What's up tut!!!!????

If you want someone to help with the technical aspect of running 3Dice software, I'll give it a shot and I'm sure someone else will give their advice also, but before anyone can help this info is needed. What are the specs on your computer......processor, ram, free space of your hard drive, graphics card, what other programs are running at the same time? Do you have issues with other software, if so what software? What kind of connection do you have to the internet, dial up or cable or dsl broadband? Is your connection shared with another computer?

Finally, thank you bb.. ok first of all .. when I run 3dice i know better than to have any other program running at all. so I close out of everything! When I sign on to 3dice, if I go into tourneys I close out that chat all together (it runs too slow with that also!) my "system" is microsoft windows XP, version 2002 service pack 2, Intel Celeron CPU 2.60 GHz 2.59 GHz, 256 MB of RAM.
I have no issues running any other programs at all. I have verizon dsl, and yes we have a router to share the connection. but even when the boys are in bed and if I am on mine alone, or even thiers alone... I still get the disconnects. and thank you. :notworthy

regarding the gifts.. you are all correct.. My bad.. sorry! your right business is business.

I also have problems but I know what the problem is. My on board video card. I need to upgrade to a nicer card. Mysticjoz, what kind of video card do youhave? Also I would recommen upgrading your RAM to at least 512. A gig would be even better.

I would love to upgrade to a whole new computer...lol... but right now it's not possible. How do i find out what kind of video card? my boys computer is better and faster and I still get disconnects.

Right click My Computer->Manage->Device Manager->Display Adapters(+Expand)

RAM is cheap and you could get another 256 stick for next to nothing. Video cards arent all that expensive either Im just too lazy to go get one. :)

I would definitely recommend at a minimum of at least 1 gig of Ram because of all the system programs that windows will be running in the background that you are not even aware of. Explorer itself which has to run in the background will almost take up 256 mb of ram alone. You can get 1gig strips nowadays for around $30.00 or less...I've personally got 4gig on my system...like a rocket...

If I were you mysticjoz I would try upgrading ram first before I started changing out video cards...try to see if your video card needs an upgrade on the software...you can do that for free

Mystics- you could also just right mouse click with your mouse on your desktop ( desktop is the screen you see when you first turn on your computer).
this will bring a drop down screen for you, at the bottom click on properties-settings in there you will see your gfx card , it should say plug and play or something similar.

Ok peeps if we are talking computer here I HAVE to tell you all what I have, I got a dual amd athlon 6000+, 4 gig of corsair ram 4096meg , 2 -8800 gtx ultra gxf cards $900 each card, striker motherboard with water cooling, silver stone tall tower, 24 inch samsung monitor,750watt thermal take power supply. sweeeeetttt riggg

P.S- I get a frame rate of 600 when playing games

AWESOME !!!!:thumbsup: Sounds like the only difference between yours and mine is I have dual monitors

Sorry you feel that way bb. Maybe you are a more casual player and therefore not recieving the same consideration. No need for your moral admonishment either as I too have played for a long time. This forum is for exchange of player experiences and that is simply what I have done. Sorry that you feel so defensive of 3Dice, as I have stated, the only complaint I have with them is that I never win anything there and the quick response I get from them usually involves a manager bonus. Sorry if this hasn't been your experience.

Pacer........ I did come off as sounding like I was riding the moral high horse a bit......didn't I? ::oops: Ok........throw a rock or two at me. :eek2: but my comments weren't directed at you. I apologize but I guess my customer service experience tends to color my thinking. I'm not defending 3Dice.....really. I've only made 5 or 6 small deposits there myself and I busted out really quickly except for one time and I didn't stop when I was ahead the one time that I should have. I've never had much occasion to complain or talk with CS there but I did get a freebie chip once when Enzo was in chat and it was my 2nd deposit and I don't know anything about the managers bonus, don't guess I qualify. I'd deposit more often but this high variance thing that everyone talks about scares me off.

As a well known gambling guru recently told me: "KISS UP,KICK DOWN if you see either,BEWARE;if you see both, RUN!"

Mystic.......as others have suggested. It sounds like the issue is your lack of ram and maybe your graphic card.
Heck....you have a better- newer system that I do except for the ram. 3Dice runs fine on my machine. One last thought that I don't think anyone has mentioned is do you have any antispyware software on your machine and if so what is it and do you keep it updated and when was the last time you did a scan?
One more thing......you mentioned kids, have they installed any p2p software on your system or theirs? If so it might be running on your computer or theirs 24/7 and you are unaware of it.
Sounds like you could greatly benefit from adding more ram.

3Dice site suggest a minimum of 512 on the RAM.

same old, that is a sick setup. Do the lights dim at your place when you power it on? I guess the power conditioner and backup generators take care of that.[/QUOTE]

I was wondering the same thing.:eek:

That was a great laugh pocketkidgger......Thanks! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm a little.......(ok a lot) green with envy on that system.

Yes i know, you cant dual monitor if you have SLI gfx's cards, it will only allow one monitor to run.

OK all I am now on my boys computer because mine froze at that point and I could not get it to run..

But I did notice that the Plug and Play was not "active"... do I have to check that box and make it active? I hate to touch any settings unless I know for sure they won't make my system worse off than before!

as far as 3dice site recommends.... my boys computer is dell dimension DIM 3000 Intel Celeron CPU 2.66 Hz 2.66 GHz, 512 MB RAM.
(but I still get disconnects)

I did get a reply to the "bug report" ..
Another place to look for help are the
windows virtual memory settings : right click My Computer, Advanced tab,
Performance subwindow settings button, advanced tab, then virtual memory
subwindow change button. Click C:, then check custom size, enter 512 and 1024
as initial and max, then set. Thats should help a lot.
I did follow this advise, and when I last checked this reset itself! So I again changed it.

I appreciate all the help everyone is giving me.. my intentions were not to make it sound as if 3dice was ripping me off! I got so extremely frustrated with trying to let them know about the problem and being told nothing shows on thier end! I guess it is possible to show as continually signed on when I am getting those disconnects all the time!. . I hope some of you can understand how it would seem like I was not connected .. therefore the bets were just lost out there in cyberspace!!
It did take them quite a while to reply to my "bug report".. i have one that was sent on january 7th I did not get this reply until january 23rd!
the email started with this
sorry for the delay, working my way through some backlog here ...
this has been an ongoing issue since december..... so yes, I am frustrated.
I do appologize.

Mysic.......describe exactly what you mean when you say disconnect. Is your screen freezing when you are playing or are you losing your connection to the internet when playing?

If it is your internet connection as I suspect it might be, then that is something that video cards and ram won't fix.

Heck.......do me a favor and humor me. Go here

and run a speed test, pick the one that is closest to you and post your results here in this forum. Dont' have any other programs accessing the net when you do the test.

My younger one does have a habit of installing things.. and I did go out one night about a month or two ago and he downloaded "Runescape", his game...could this be a problem? I just ran a virus scan yesterday and ad-aware yesterday.
(I still have to uninstall mcafee and install the avg you recommended, I just don't want to leave it unprotected all together, and i have been bogged down with a dozen other issues.. ie, medical, apartment inspection, etc)

I can't locate the ones I saved on this computer...

ok... i will go there from my computer... give me a couple minutes ok? (i will run that from mine and get into my hot waiting tub real quick, before it goes cold...lol ) thank very much for your help.

Computers and games are my hobbie, I built the system myself.
I do a lot of things with my computer so having a good one is a must for me.
I am always upgrading my system aswell, next week iam going vista so I can run 6-8 gig of ram. I also have 2 -500gig hard drives (baracuda) that Iam going to install.
The whole system is silver with a bright red and blue lights all through it, I also leave the tower open and put the aircon on the system for optimum performance

Hell-O.........very nice indeed! Don't happen to have a pic do you?

I'm going to purchase or build a new one in the next few months. Since you are experienced in building maybe you can offer me some suggestions that would fit my budget and what I'll be doing with it........if you wouldn't mind in the near future. It would be my 1st attempt at building my own.

ok I just spoke to Anna from 3dice and here are the minimum system requirements for there software.
Hope it helps

: # IBM PC-compatible computer
# Windows XP or better (98 or better I dont know)
# Pentium 4 or better (or equivalent)-which is 3.2GHz
# 512 megabytes of RAM
# 3D video card (preferred: ATI or NVIDIA)-im thinking a 128mb card or better.
# SVGA screen- ( which means Super Video Graphics Array, big word for screen resolution, which should be set at 800-600 pixels)
# 200 megabytes of hard drive space

that will bring you to my report... i'm gonna see if my tub is still warm..

ps. I did not see a link to verizon, or NH verizon... so i did the generic usa.

That link didn't show me your speed. It doesn't matter if you pick a verizon one or not, just pick the one that is nearest to your location.
Please do a copy and paste here. The up and down speed, please include both. Remember to have nothing else accessing the net at the same time. Also.......include what your ISP says your maximum up and down speed is supposed to be, please.

It's fine if you want to wait till tomorrow.
