What Music Do You Listen To?

Met with John many times about building a home for him but he wanted it done for nothing so I suggested he would be better finding another Builder.

LOL. That always seems to be the way with famous people. They expect it to be done on the cheap or out of gratitude for what they've bought the world. Maybe it's because they are always getting ripped off on quotes that they are uber-careful.

True

So true and I have seen time & time again(with exceptions,of course). With talented athletes in the States(F-BALL & HOOPS mainly) starting in high school, they begin to feel a sense of entitlement that progresses to a higher level if that athlete suceeds at reaching the next level and so forth. But do not blame the athlete. It is society that bestows this sense of entitlement. Even worse, is when this pampered athlete is thrown into the real world and has to adjust to the fame being gone. Alot are not prepared to be John Doe's. Although I am surrounded by famous musicians , I do not know enough to say if the above holds true as a whole but they(with exceptions also) appear if nothing else more humble. Musicians usually have a totally different road (it is called waiting tables) to the big leagues that does not commence with the high school athletic recruiting process.

I think this applies to the wealthy as a whole. If you live in what is considered a wealthy area, price quotes by all types of contractors are often much higher for the same apple and you would be surprised how many never realize and pay it. I guess that is why contractors get away with it. Sad but true. Also somewhat paradoxical to my response to the first part of your quote so go figure(NPI) .

i find it to be more ignorance than arrogance. many athletes i know have been pampered since high school years and simply dont know any better. they become very guarded most of the time because they feel stupid. a guy shows up to give them an estimate on a deck, they never swung a hammer, have no idea what lumber costs, etc. buying a house can be a nightmare for some. dont know what lawyers cost, accountants, etc. they just pay whatever they're told. from clothes to cars to anything you can think of. i know guys that dont know how to use a washing machine. i'm not kidding.

they do no better most of the time but become spoiled by fame ! an example: i sent a worker to change out (one )light bulb at a tenn titians home for his wife.i explained to her that i had an hourly rate and a weekend trip charge to change out a 2.00 bulb, came to 75.00 plus 25.00 trip charge. i told her if she could do with out (one kitchen light )for the weekend i wouldnt charge her on monday as i would have someone in the area but she insisted and i had her write a check to my employee for that amount.i thought i was being more than reasonable:)

thats insane. i know plenty of the same type stories. lol. thank god i came from a blue collar family. dad was a bricklayer. taught me and my brothers how it was. when i first started making big money, and spending it like a guy going to the electric chair, he put the brakes on that. matter of fact he took most of my money away. i was on an allowance. lol. very thankful he did.

Spot on and could have included in my post although I alluded to some points and mentioned the paradox not just for athletes but even the educated wealthy but had to keep it breif. The worst thing for me was being asked to monitor a house being built several years ago as favor for #75 of the Titans and his wife during TC & the season (I did not build it). What could I really do as they thought the moon was being hung($21000.00 invoice for a deck that should have been $5000.00), I could diplomatically subtely inform yet by the same token could not really interfere and did not want to burst their bubble as they were going to pay the rip-off invoice in full anyway or overpay for the cabinets regardless. I often told #75 I wish I was just doing the change orders on his house but it meant nothing. As you stated in another post y-day,lose-lose as several years later he would realize he had been taken advantage of but essentially my hands were tied......................On the otherhand I actually did some work as a favor for former Titan and now a long time Eagle tackle, Jon Runyan and Jon was as sharp as a tack. Very intelligent and talented. Jon even had trade skills to do some work when subs did not show(very common) and the job was being delayed. He enjoyed it........Sidenote for 1819, Jon and I went to alot of Preds. game together and he started off w/ Double Crowns in each hand,LOL, and sat on the glass, some crazy nights, I have vistited Jon in Philly(lives in Mt. Laurel,NJ), a good guy and I love(d) watching he and Strahan go at it twice and once three times a year, some were like classic boxing matchs....sorry for the derail.

The Beach Boys
I just went to the Beach Boys Concert at the Mohegan Sun Casino.
This was a 2 1/2 hour concert and it was great.
They set up the arena like the beach and they gave us all beach towels and other great stuff for free. But the people that where in the seats got nothing & I bet they had many mad people too.
It was a blast.
