Comments Welcome Meistermeet 2015 - Thank-You Thread...

Well, just got back and have to say a thoroughly surreal and fantastic experience. Good turnout, great people, nice bar and I thoroughly recommend that if you can get to the next one, then do so!

I took my foil hat (really!) but still nobody recognized me, not even Bryan. :D
Great meeting the reps like Lucas, Ben and Karolina, a thoroughly charming woman and worthy winner of her award this year!

The affiliates are a shady bunch though, to be carefully observed at all times...especially KasinoKing at the BJ table.:D

I had to leave Simmo while he paid for the services of a young woman:eek2:
(Don't worry, only one of those that give you a nice head and shoulder massage while you're sitting playing slots....)

Vinyl is a good bloke, doesn't talk as much as he types and knows his stuff, pleasure meeting him too!

Tirilej came from Sweden and was very naughty smoking cigarettes again tsk tsk but then again I had some company to sneak outside with for a quick puff. She also took many photos which may or may not be viewable on here soon, depends if we can all afford the blackmail terms.....

And Nifty as you all know came all the way from Australia and is a great bloke and I enjoyed our chats, but (as Australians tend to do) shortens names. So Dunover became 'dunny' which of course as you all know is Aussie slang for an outside sh!thouse...... Seriously, a privilege to meet him..

I can't remember all of you, as it was quite busy but thanks to all present for a great night, and to those who sponsored it all! :notworthy

If Nifty can get here from 12000 miles away, let's hope some of the US and Canadian members can too next time if they haven't before. Make a week of it and you'll not regret it, here's hoping!

Not so, you just couldn't hear me over the racket of combined chat and live music unless you were stood right next to me:p

What took you so long getting back, I got back by midnight, and had to walk from the train station because all the buses had buggered off for the night.

My biggest shock of the evening took place at Waterloo, the tight fisted blonde gentleman seen either on his bike or suspended on a wire from a zipline wanted £9.60 for the 5 minute tube ride between Waterloo and Piccadilly Circus:mad:

No, I meant back at home now. I got back to the hotel at 2:30 AM after a quick 2 x quarterpounders and large fries at MacDonalds in The Strand. And mentioning 'tight blonde gentleman' may be misconstrued in some quarters.

P.S. You could've emptied a few AWP's and paid that £9.60 many times over.

Great post Dunover and I'm genuinely gutted I couldn't make it. My claim to fame though is that I still appear in the opening credits on the meister videos from the time I was able to attend (look for a fat a guy next to PatH!)

I love this. Would I be naughty if we put this to a vote for your forum ID to be changed?

I could have made it worse for you, and told you that I pre-bought my train tickets from the South Coast to London (a 2-hour journey) for just £5 each way! :D

And as Dunover mentioned, after the Meister Meet I hit the blackjack table in the Hippodrome and won £320 - which completely paid back all my 3 nights in hotels, with some to spare for more beers!

I Can NOT wait for the photos of all you rowdy crowd!:):D
I didn't take my camera, but I got a few shots with my tablet (no flash on it, so they are a bit dark & blurry).

I won't say who's in these photo's as some people might want to remain anonymous - but none are me as I didn't take any selfies!

You're a good looking bunch of rowdies! I miss THAT Brit pub gathering! I can just smell the beer from here! :)

I didn't have time. I stayed on right till everyone left after 10pm, downed the rest of my cider, and made my way back to Waterloo. I managed to catch the second to last train home, barely had time for a coffee, let alone the AWPs.

My train ticket was only £15.60, and bought on the day at the station. It wasn't any cheaper online, and adding the tube online was even more expensive than paying £9.60 at Waterloo. The last time I went you could add tube travel onto the train ticket for a modest price through adding a zone to the ticket. Maybe it's to force everyone to use Oyster rather than pay at the gate, but it's useless for me because it doesn't work as far out as Bracknell.

I could have gone for free because all the barriers were open and not one ticket inspector was to be seen either at the stations nor on the train.

Thoroughly enjoyable evening, was great to meet so many other forum members, reps and mods. Sorry to hear about your apparent fleecing on the tube Vinyl, it's insane how much London travel is these days.

Thanks for hosting the event Bryan and look forward to doing it all again next year. Hopefully more forum members can come down

You still can add a zone to the ticket for a few pounds? It's normally £4/£5 more for an all zones travelcard. It might be slightly different for SWT than FGW but I doubt it's that much. We really need to sort the fare system out...

That's what I did last time, but the system has changed and adding the zones to the train ticket puts the price up from £15 to over £30. It was the same at the station. I tried a return to Waterloo, and compared it to a return to Piccadilly circus. The latter option doubled the price to £31, so I thought I would leave it and buy the tickets separately, the train from SWT, and the tube from Waterloo. It didn't make much difference.

Ouch. That doesn't sound right at all! Sounds like they may have been trying to upgrade you to a peak return to Zone 1 or something? Whenever going to London by train, if you're using the underground and it's outside morning rush hour, just get an all zones travelcard. It's nearly always cheaper. I'll have a look when I get back to work next week. Sounds like you may have been unfairly overcharged. If you still have the tickets you may be able to claim it back.

I didn't buy it. I walked instead. Good opportunity to test out Google maps with GPS to find my way around a place like London. I also got to see the lights at night from Waterloo bridge. I did try keying in different ticket options both online and at Waterloo, but they all came up with the same answer, the 5 minute tube ride was between £15 and £9.60. Since I had selected the super saver off peak ticket option for the train, it should have added the equivalent tube ticket, not a peak one. The ticket machine had no such off peak option, and it seems the price was the same whether I selected a specific journey or a zone 1 travel card.

It's not a very good way to encourage the use of public transport to and within London. I did see a stand of Boris Bikes, and did toy with the idea, but decided against it as I would find navigation much harder trying to cycle and use the Google maps app at the same time. I also didn't know where I could leave the bike when I arrived at Waxy's.

Always wanted to and would love to attend an event such as this and guessing I've missed out big time with it being in the UK this year as I ain't even got a passport if its held elsewhere next time(s). Seems like a great time was had my all who went - nice one!!!

This was probably posted prior to the event but can anyone give me a rough idea of what the cost would be (travel / accommodation / food) see if its worth me making an effort to see If I can save for next year maybe :)

Cheers All!!

As far as I no its been the local meet for a while due to other things going on at the same time, Wolvs to London if you book in advance when you no the date and all that will be cheap, hotel I not sure of but a quick google search will sort that one out, Drinks are free for the few hours :)

Should not think it would dig a hole in your pocket unless you have to much :drink: and hit the casino :)

Just checked NationalRail.co.uk, and off-peak mid-week return from Wolves to London is £26 (Random date in early March)
You could get a Premier Inn for £69 - or a B&B probably MUCH cheaper.
Then it's just the underground rip-off.
At a pinch I reckon you could do it for close to £100.

Thanks everyone for making it out there. It was great meeting everyone - especially the first-timers where we played guessing games with "Guess who I am? Don't know, do ya!" :p

It was really a pleasure - I'm gutted that I didn't have a longer time to spend chit chatting with everyone. The time went so fast.

Ueber thanks go to Club World who sponsered the event - and to Karolina who kept the bar tab open for an additional hour and a half since no one wanted to leave. Good show.

I'll be posting some picts later when I am back at work in a couple of days. :D

Gutted I couldn't make it will do my very best to make the next one though! Typically I've been on a winning streak past 2 days and could have funded going and then some, where were these wins a week ago right!? Looks like everyone had a good time.

Finally back home in Sweden. Travelled 11 hours yesterday and still have a couple of hours today before I'm back at my place. What a journey it has been, but so great:)

The meistermeet was so fun. My first beers for 7 months and the opportunity to be social again. I found myself running around asking almost every single one who they were, talking a few words and off to the next one. I'm sure I missed a few anyway but I tried at least.
Dunover was a talking machine for real too :p Nifty, how great it was to see you:thumbsup: Simmo, Bryan, Karolina, Max, KK, funnymunny...you were all so nice.
Seeing Redbet-Alex again (thanks for the hugs):) and Andy really felt good. The guys from Videoslots, Casinoluck-Eric, Ben, Unibetrep, conker,...and everyone I don't even remember now

I missed a few too that couldn't make it. You know who you are and next year you'll be there all of you, because I won't miss it, no way!

My god Trilej why so long :eek2:

Bryan has already said it but BIG THANKS to all who came out. Very well attended, just a super mix of players, operators, affiliates, industry wheels, forum peeps, etc. TBH I think it was our best event in years and I reckon we could have happily gone on for hours. Thanks all for a great evening!

A few special shout-outs if I may:

Thank you CWC and Karolina for being our gracious and generous hosts.

Thanks to Nifty for travelling halfway around the world to share a few toasts and swap stories with us.

And big thanks to all the forum members who travelled to the city just to hang with the Meister crowd for an evening. You guys spent your own time and money to do this and I don't think we can tell you how much we appreciate it. Good times and great memories. :)

I have a huge question for you people from England.
This was my first visit there so some things I couldn't understand.

I know I'm not a kid anymore even though I can behave like one:p
...but why did they call me Madame everywhere? It made me feel really really old:eek2:

I'm from England and never liked that, either! Felt like a slap on the butt, but it is a form of respect.

But, Sara (and may I say this , respectfully?....but you're 'UP' there in the years)...ok, running outta here...........

;):p

Being called Madam does not really reflect your age in this country :)

Its more one of the following:-

* 'over the top' polite and respectful (although seems opposite happened to you lol :p)
* Some 'nervous' people use it when unsure or does not want to ask your name

When we've been out and about 'cold sales' have addressed my 26 year old wife by this numerous times, its just one of those things to be honest but I would defo see it as a mark of respect rather than the other

:axeman2: Run fast, if you can, because you're a lot older

Now if I had been 25 years younger, what had they called me then?

Vinyl did! :D:D

I say it again, hang the expense. Most people deposit many times more a year than the cost of a day or two in London, and you'll remember the Meistermeet far longer than most deposits...

I checked the time of the last train, and used that as my guide for when it was time to leave. I was going nowhere other than back home, and didn't have to get up early the next day (didn't either:D).

Of course had everybody else gone, so would I, but in some ways it was better staying on as it got a little quieter and it was possible to actually talk to people and hear what they were saying. I left at the final emptying when it seemed a very late (but probably free) dinner provided by NetEnt was the attraction.

Sadly, I was too late back to Waterloo for a little emptying of my own, and just had time to grab a coffee and board the train all in the space of 20 minutes.

I...why did they call me Madame everywhere? It made me feel really really old:eek2:

... it is a form of respect.

It is absolutely nothing to do with age Tirilej. It's a "formal" and respectful greeting - Sir or Madam. Like in France I guess where it is always Monsieur and Madame: applies to any age.

Hi Tirilej,

Here up north they could call you 'Luv'. Personally I hate when some people do that. I'll be rather called Madame or even Mam but not Luv regardless of age. ;)

Also BIG THANKS to all attendees!!! It was good to meet everyone

Kind Regards,
Karolina
