Well, just got back and have to say a thoroughly surreal and fantastic experience. Good turnout, great people, nice bar and I thoroughly recommend that if you can get to the next one, then do so!

I took my foil hat (really!) but still nobody recognized me, not even Bryan.
Great meeting the reps like Lucas, Ben and Karolina, a thoroughly charming woman and worthy winner of her award this year!

The affiliates are a shady bunch though, to be carefully observed at all times...especially KasinoKing at the BJ table.

I had to leave Simmo while he paid for the services of a young woman
(Don't worry, only one of those that give you a nice head and shoulder massage while you're sitting playing slots....)

Vinyl is a good bloke, doesn't talk as much as he types and knows his stuff, pleasure meeting him too!

Tirilej came from Sweden and was very naughty smoking cigarettes again tsk tsk but then again I had some company to sneak outside with for a quick puff. She also took many photos which may or may not be viewable on here soon, depends if we can all afford the blackmail terms.....

And Nifty as you all know came all the way from Australia and is a great bloke and I enjoyed our chats, but (as Australians tend to do) shortens names. So Dunover became 'dunny' which of course as you all know is Aussie slang for an outside sh!thouse...... Seriously, a privilege to meet him..

I can't remember all of you, as it was quite busy but thanks to all present for a great night, and to those who sponsored it all! :notworthy

If Nifty can get here from 12000 miles away, let's hope some of the US and Canadian members can too next time if they haven't before. Make a week of it and you'll not regret it, here's hoping!

No, I meant back at home now. I got back to the hotel at 2:30 AM after a quick 2 x quarterpounders and large fries at MacDonalds in The Strand. And mentioning 'tight blonde gentleman' may be misconstrued in some quarters.

P.S. You could've emptied a few AWP's and paid that £9.60 many times over.

Great post Dunover and I'm genuinely gutted I couldn't make it. My claim to fame though is that I still appear in the opening credits on the meister videos from the time I was able to attend (look for a fat a guy next to PatH!)

I could have made it worse for you, and told you that I pre-bought my train tickets from the South Coast to London (a 2-hour journey) for just £5 each way!

And as Dunover mentioned, after the Meister Meet I hit the blackjack table in the Hippodrome and won £320 - which completely paid back all my 3 nights in hotels, with some to spare for more beers!

I Can NOT wait for the photos of all you rowdy crowd!

I didn't have time. I stayed on right till everyone left after 10pm, downed the rest of my cider, and made my way back to Waterloo. I managed to catch the second to last train home, barely had time for a coffee, let alone the AWPs.

My train ticket was only £15.60, and bought on the day at the station. It wasn't any cheaper online, and adding the tube online was even more expensive than paying £9.60 at Waterloo. The last time I went you could add tube travel onto the train ticket for a modest price through adding a zone to the ticket. Maybe it's to force everyone to use Oyster rather than pay at the gate, but it's useless for me because it doesn't work as far out as Bracknell.

I could have gone for free because all the barriers were open and not one ticket inspector was to be seen either at the stations nor on the train.

I didn't buy it. I walked instead. Good opportunity to test out Google maps with GPS to find my way around a place like London. I also got to see the lights at night from Waterloo bridge. I did try keying in different ticket options both online and at Waterloo, but they all came up with the same answer, the 5 minute tube ride was between £15 and £9.60. Since I had selected the super saver off peak ticket option for the train, it should have added the equivalent tube ticket, not a peak one. The ticket machine had no such off peak option, and it seems the price was the same whether I selected a specific journey or a zone 1 travel card.

It's not a very good way to encourage the use of public transport to and within London. I did see a stand of Boris Bikes, and did toy with the idea, but decided against it as I would find navigation much harder trying to cycle and use the Google maps app at the same time. I also didn't know where I could leave the bike when I arrived at Waxy's.

As far as I no its been the local meet for a while due to other things going on at the same time, Wolvs to London if you book in advance when you no the date and all that will be cheap, hotel I not sure of but a quick google search will sort that one out, Drinks are free for the few hours

Should not think it would dig a hole in your pocket unless you have to much and hit the casino

Just checked NationalRail.co.uk, and off-peak mid-week return from Wolves to London is £26 (Random date in early March)
You could get a Premier Inn for £69 - or a B&B probably MUCH cheaper.
Then it's just the underground rip-off.
At a pinch I reckon you could do it for close to £100.

Its more one of the following:-

* 'over the top' polite and respectful (although seems opposite happened to you lol )
* Some 'nervous' people use it when unsure or does not want to ask your name

When we've been out and about 'cold sales' have addressed my 26 year old wife by this numerous times, its just one of those things to be honest but I would defo see it as a mark of respect rather than the other

It is absolutely nothing to do with age Tirilej. It's a "formal" and respectful greeting - Sir or Madam. Like in France I guess where it is always Monsieur and Madame: applies to any age.

Hi Tirilej,

Here up north they could call you 'Luv'. Personally I hate when some people do that. I'll be rather called Madame or even Mam but not Luv regardless of age.
