Give me some glycerine vapour with flavoured syrup and dissolved nicotine salts any day over 70-odd carcinogens at 400c, brown fingers and a tight chest.Same, I tried it one time. Deep down we know none of it makes a difference, but when something is completely random, doing something — timing a click, lining up a cursor, having a little ritual — makes it feel less passive. It’s comfort more than belief.So for lightening the mood I always remember odd behaviour by either myself or others, going right back to arcades decades ago. The foreign bloke who accused people's 'eyes of being evil' and cursing his Electrocoin (IIRC) play and wouldn't press start until they weren't looking. Those that 'stroked' the start button continually until they built up the absolute minimum necessary pressure to spin the reels. People who covered the glass every few spins. Just a few odd rituals I remember.
Myself? I always try and position the cursor right in the middle of the start button since autoplay stopped for UK. Then starting when the seconds on the clock are either ending in 5 or 0 (I've managed to wean myself off of that one of late).
