Announcement Meister Meeting 2015 - You are invited!

Absolutely +1 to what the guys have already said about staying near Leicester Square/Trafalgar Square VS the Docklands.

TBH the Docklands is exile, no one who wants to see and enjoy London would pick that as a place to stay. They purposely chose that ghastly place so the conference people wouldn't have anywhere to go but the conference itself, they're herding the cattle! Some of the conference peeps stay out there but that's only so they can get to and from the conference as quickly as possible. In other words, they're working, fun and entertainment figure rather low on their priority list. There's no good reason for you to make that same choice/mistake, at least none that I can think of.

From the Leicester Square/Trafalgar Square area it's about a 30 minute (easy) commute to Docklands BUT you are right smack in the middle of everything else that you'll want to see and do. And there is a lot you'll want to see and do!

Let me put it this way: being at Leicester Square/Trafalgar Square you have all the food, pubs, entertainment, sights, walks and shopping you could hope for. Being out in the Docklands you have a dismal suburb and ... the conference. Take your pick.

It's probably worth mentioning that LAC is on the opposite side of town from ICE. Don't know if you're going to be around for LAC -- I seem to recall that you might be -- but it's fairly close to Earls's Court (it's previous venue) and I understand that's a fairly decent area to stay. It ain't nearly as good as Leicester Square/Trafalgar Square (IMO) but it sure beats the hell out of being in the Docklands.

Pictures are (often) worth a bunch of words, so a couple images of each area for you:

Wow, even though I barely type on the forums, I'd like to say, see ya there for sure ! Sounds like alot of fun, but I am in Australia and cannot happen for me, but if you want to do it again in 2016 my backyard is open :p

Just thought - we'll have to make sure Vinyl comes as there is an arcade in Leicester Square apparently and he's bursting to show you his MG AWP emptiers....:D

There should be a couple at the venue. A "force" for the jackpot may be possible, it will clearly show how these games are "rigged", and show patterns that indicate what state they are in. The arcade probably has loads of regulars, so the machines may well not perform well for an outsider.

Welldone Nifty, congrats on your win!

Definitely stay central guys if you are coming down, recommend zones 1-2 for easy access to L. Sq and various other London sites. People who book hotels over at Excel always end up coming into town in the evening and paying fortunes in cab fares.

True but if you can find a room for less that 150 a night near Leicester Square i'd like to know! Ill def be going this year too. Be good to meet you guys in person.

I actually made a trip up to London for a night at the Hippodrome Casino last month and stayed at a place called the Excelsior just round the corner from King's Cross. Decent accommodation and for less than £100 per night from what I remember. Leicester Square is then easy to get to from King's Cross.

I've been at Meister Meeting in 2012, and I think I will be in London for ICE / LAC 2015, so most likely I'm in :)

BTW, how about small poker tournament? Or we will be busy drinking beer and chatting?

I think not at the Meister Meet - that just would not work. I would be up for a game before or after at another venue though.

A couple of years back I got involved in an impromptu poker game late in the day at LAC - 4 of us at the Paddy Power stand, drinking free Guinness and using beer mats for chips (worth 50p each) - I had some great luck and ended up cashing in about 200 beer mats!

Yeah, I remember that too!
Few times got needed cards on the river, but busted anyway.
Sometimes we were very loud, so people were coming to check what the hell we are doing :D

KK, you was the luckiest guy in that game!

For anyone looking for somewhere central to stay try The Z Hotel in Soho.. It's a small, ultra modern hotel and rooms are around £140 per night. I stay there for all my London visits.

(Plus unlimited free wine and cheese in the bar for residents between 6 - 8pm, YES PLEASE)

That's what I always use for London!
If you're over for quite a while, you might be better off looking to the outskirts of London, but still near the Underground network.
Don't go for a cheap room near central London as it will likely be a dive (been there - done that more than once!)

I normally just do a "day trip" to London for the Meister Meet - but that means I have to head for the trains about 10:30pm. If you're coming I will probably stay there the night as I think the drinking might well go on way beyond that!

Booking.yeah :D:thumbsup: I love that advert!

I'll be there.

I just hope everyone is not playing starburst on their phone, because when I turn up, you better be up for a party!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

I'm up for a party which mean I'll be there too :D

Finally I'll get that free beer :p

Shall be getting my shift pattern for February in a couple of weeks time, fingers crossed for a 9-5 that day

If it's a night shift I'm on (like now) then I may only be able to stop by for an hour or so.

Well I'm all sorted with flights and a nice apartment in Paddington :)

Really looking forward to finally meeting so many of you that I've known for years and years!!

I was thinking about how anyone will know it's me when I arrive. Best idea is to listen out for a foul-mouthed Aussie with a fairly poor attitude :D

Looking forward to the ICE as well and seeing Dunover do his balls on Blackjack at The Hippodrome!

Counting down the days.....

Just wish the damn exchange rate wasn't so disgusting

I have never been in a B&M casino in my life. It would be a first for me, but just in case I don't get a RTP of 100%+ on anything I play I shall bring a few hats with me.:)

Don't worry, I don't think many other people will be wearing wide-brimmed hats with corks on strings hanging all around the rim, a can of Fosters in hand and with a pet kangaroo in tow... :p

KK

That will have been confiscated at Heathrow:D

Trust you to rain on the parade. So I take it that rules out PM'ing Nifty and asking him to bring a tin of that famous car accessory from Australia, an aerosol of 'Start Ya Bastard!' :D
