If I'm not working I'll be sure to attend. With three casinos in Leicester Square, are we planning on a little wager afterwards?

    Yeah, for sure
Come with me & Simmo to the Hippodrome to hit the slots or tables. You need quite a wad for the tables though - most are £10 minimum :eek2:

I will be at the Meister Meeting as always, and I hope to see lots of "regular CM members" there this year.
Please come along if you can - we don't bite... much! ;)

    WOW!

I am so excited to have the opportunity to meet the other n'er-do-wells that frequent this forum and mull over the inner workings of our favourite industry :)

A HUGE shout out to Ben at GUTS.com for the incredibly generous prize. I'm just lost for words (yes you read that right) when it comes to how much I appreciate the gesture, and also how grateful I am to Bryan and his crewdogs for deciding they wanted someone like me to upset the ICE applecart :D

It will be my first overseas trip so I'm a little nervous, but my wife is accompanying me so I'm sure she will belt me one if I start whining. I'm also not a big fan of flying so it should be interesting to say the least!

I've just made a doctor's appointment to have my immunisations (for cholera, typhoid, yellow fever, mad cow and nimpers which I've heard are all rampant in the UK) and to get a letter certifying that, despite my outward appearance, I am a fit person to enter the UK.

The weird thing is that it's going to be like 40 degrees Celsius when I leave and about -40 when I arrive LOL. Makes for some interesting clothing choice on the flight!

If anyone has any personal recommendations in terms of hotels or apartments near the Docklands, feel free to PM me as I'm currently looking at places to stay :)

Once again a big thanks to all concerned and let's just hope London is ready for another laid back Aussie :D

That's what I always use for London!
If you're over for quite a while, you might be better off looking to the outskirts of London, but still near the Underground network.
Don't go for a cheap room near central London as it will likely be a dive (been there - done that more than once!)

I normally just do a "day trip" to London for the Meister Meet - but that means I have to head for the trains about 10:30pm. If you're coming I will probably stay there the night as I think the drinking might well go on way beyond that!

Hi - I live and work about 3 miles from central london so I know it pretty well. For accommodation it depends on your budget - a good cheap location is near City airport which has very good transport links to the City and Docklands on the Docklands Light Railway. Loads of people at work use this place if staying at the office really late.

    Here is the link:

They are about £60 a night booked in advance and perfectly fine for a short visit - clean, functional and safe. Good cooked breakfast as well.

For a more mid range budget - circa £200 a night the Hilton in Canary Wharf would be your best bet.

Max and I have stayed here for the last several years:

It's pricey, but totally central - right around the corner from Trafalgar Square, next to Charing Cross Road (Harry Potter fan?), Leicester Square, and a 10-15 minute walk to the Meister Meeting :D

I would recommend following Bryan's suggestion & stay closer to the touristy stuff in central London, rather than around Docklands or the Excel centre (where iCE is held). Sure the latter may be more convenient for the show, but they're not great for exploring the city and it's nightlife. Also bear in mind the additional costs of getting to/from town when the sun goes down... Sure the tubes are pretty cheap, but they don't run 24hrs & regular taxi runs will quickly negate any money saved by staying further away.

The You must register/login in order to see the link. group have hotels in You must register/login in order to see the link. and You must register/login in order to see the link.. Both are in the heart of the tourist attractions, and no more than 5mins walk from both Waxy O'Connors and the casino's mentioned in earlier posts. (Not to mention China Town and a wide and varied selection of other restaurants to suit all budgets). I've just checked their website & they currently have double rooms in early Feb for £160 per night.

As others have said, big kudos to Guts for doing this for you & congrats to you for getting it.

Hope this helps, and I look forward seeing you there

As you are an affiliate and only in Holland - a trip to London should be relatively cheap for you. If you combine your visit with LAC (which is on Sunday and Monday for the first time ever - and before the CM meet) you could probably do it for not much more than €300. You can get a return Ryanair flight from Eindhoven for about €50, and a hotel room for about the same per night. So flight + 3 nights would only be around €200-250. You wont have to spend hardly anything on food or booze as it's all free at LAC, the after parties and at the CM bash of course. Your only major expense will be for the tube or taxis.
    See you in February!
