Not much difference in the hit rate, but it's what you're hitting. Who knows whether the reel sets change per account if the game is aware of your rtp, doing well you get switched to the reels where the rtp is concentrated in base game hits that on average take 10,000 spins to hit, and bonus scatters are reduced.

Not sure of the legality of such a theoretical setup, but once I learned fixed odds based slot games have multiple reel sets it's made me suspicious, there's a route there to set gameplay against typical deposit/stake size/session length.

All theory mind you, just my layperson's thoughts of a way it might happen. Everything would still be random, but the odds change per reel set.
Yeah, always crosses my mind, that when you log into a game, what are you actually logging into? I mean, you can’t physically see a slot can you.

It’s not like walking into a Casino and saying I will play that one in the corner, put your dosh in and the game doesn’t know you from Adam. No, when online it seems that you log into the same game each time and that is your own personal version.

There could be other contributing factors but the fact you can leave Bonanza on certain sites, then come back a week later and the screen loads to where you left off, leads me to think it’s your own version.

If that’s the case then you can never win long term, as it’s programmed to allow swings but the house edge will always kill you eventually. As opposed to walking into a Casino and choosing different slots at random where you could theoretically win every day if you were super lucky.

How much money is being fed through a game, surely plays a significant part, I think. For a slot to play at premium potential, the volume of stakes needs to be at its highest. That would explain why in the earlier years, we saw bigger x wins, @pinnits 9 scatter trigger, etc but now those are a distant memory as its popularity faded away.

If you are wondering where I get that last theory from, it’s from the FOBT roulette. I am not a fly by night poster who posts on a whim, I’ve got years of experience and I study things intently.

What I noticed with FOBT’s was that at the height of their popularity (before they had slots available), the vast majority of people played the roulette. Now they absolutely were not random and I guarantee that. They worked on a compensatory mode (as do slots and don’t let anyone tell you different).

On the days when the bank was full and they were ready to pay, there was a sequence of your “best number” (the most profitable) appearing 3 times in 4 spins. Either hit, hit, miss, hit or hit, miss, hit, hit but never 3 hits in a row. As time moved on and the volume of money decreased that pattern was never ever seen. I have a strong feeling slots work in a similar fashion.

Take the words 'highs' and 'euphoria' out of that last sentence and you know where I'm at....
Well Mr. D, given the number of times you have had the proverbial (and rather audible) "vinegar stroke" when the D drops in on one of your Bonanza vids,
I think the time has cum for you to change your Youtube channel's name to......

Dazza Gee Spot.......

At least we now know what happens when your wife approaches you for a bit of nookie. You just say....

"Not tonight my dear, I hit a 543.65x bonus on Bonanza and it rendered my scrotum drier than a pharoah's sock"

Anyway, CM folks and folkesses, it was a great pleasure knowing you all. I'm about to get ban hammered for Christmas.....

When you catch the D with 55 cent left thinking you get more playtime :D:D

That's a real poke in the eye. I've only had one zero-paying bonus ever, but I recall once playing on £4 spins (I had already cashed out a £500 profit) leaving about £130 in to carry on playing a little while. Down to £5.40, last £4 spin drops in GOLD. £1.40 left in balance plus any returns from the impending feature. Paid 0.35x. Didn't even have enough left for another £4 spin. So I know how this must have felt. VILE.

This game has a memory, most 25-50x base game wins are just very short term loans rather than a sign it's going to be a decent session 😡
Definitely - had a session yesterday where the base game was not bad; say not bad, it was taking 70 quid from 100 one quid spins and then chucking in a 100x base game hit. Did this about 5 times before going dead but with no bonus.

Rare to see the decent base game go onto a decent bonus IMO - in fact, was playing at Mr Q and it was brutal for about 200 spins and then boom, 450x Gold and another 120x 10 spins later.

Unibets new Relax version is loving firing out 15x Golds as well - got the base game on a good run, got to 200 and thought f it, just do fiver spins as was a tad bore. Joy when it came it was met with anger when it paid 75 quid

The Relax version is an absolute bag of bent filth, it’s not even worth playing. Unibet must have increased their profit by millions by changing to that version, as my gameplay there became unrecognisable to what came before.

The Relax version has some incredibly lazy programming imo. The patterns your sessions take have little, if any variance. Still has some of the old traits but they seem even more prolific now…….Lots of trolling spins where diamonds appear on 5 reels but miss on 2, 3 or 4 to prevent a nice win, the dead spins in the bonus round and hits mainly paying on 4 reels only and the times in the base you hit 4 blocking rubies on reel 2 (next time you play look for this, it’s ridiculously frequent).

The most noticeable patterns are:- between 5 and 10 dead spins to start a session (never used to happen), Your deposit disappearing without trace in record time so often (could happen but a rarity), the amount of times you hit a x25 base win, only to be followed by dead spins that recoup it within seconds, the occasional time you get a decent run in the base but GOLD doesn’t appear (and you know it ain’t coming).

The only trait I can see on the winning side is a reasonably early GOLD that will pay between x100-x150, followed by another within 50 spins that usually pays something awful between x10 and x30. If you continue to play, it will rip the lot relatively quickly, without another decent hit.

Same shite happened over and over and they call it random. If it was random your balance would or should be up and down like the proverbial “brides” but it never is, It goes one way or the other, without much deviation. It’s virtually impossible to see 4 major swings in a session. Losing to winning to bust is 3 and the most you can expect to see.

I've cut back on my Unibet Deposits by about 3/4: i only played two games there: Bonanza and Reactoonz 2. One's been gimped and, well one's been gimped

Not a massive fan of MrQ but playing more there as, smaller selection, but least you can play the Pragmatics etc on a decent setting (for now)

It is hard to get away from the feeling that the Relax hosted one is held together with horse glue and pritt stick at the moment. Because it's been shite been mixing play up with few other slots because it is on a pretty crap X return now - i did hit a 400x (Mr Q) on a quid the other day but that sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the 15x's

Time to come back to it in Feb 22 when they need to lower profits to reduce tax liability and start paying out more

Funnily enough, I don’t play at MrQ all that much but I have found it to play 10x better there than anywhere else.

Sites where it is dreadful are as follows:-

32 Red
Videoslots
Bet Victor (shocking)
Sky Vegas (unplayable)
Leovegas
Sun Vegas
Unibet
Trada
Ladbrokes

Playable:-

Grosvenor
Novibet
Party Casino

Decent:-

MrQ.

I appreciate that player’s experiences will differ but these seem set in stone for me personally.

Nice :D :D

I'm tempted to try again, Have enough for a small deposit which I'd planned on saving for Boring Boxing Day!

Have that "gamblers feeling" that something is due to come very good for me but also, if wrong don't want to put myself in a shitty mood before bed!

Decisions, decisions :p

Edit: Have just read Snork's post, pretty much the same (although I only really play at VS these days, tiny budget only way I can try and keep XP up for battles etc)

My Bonanza ran best at the WHG/Caddell sites, had some awesome hits and even regularly got on the 0.60's and 0.80's  stopped playing there though after my (2nd) lifetime bonus ban

I had a few decent hits at Casimba but since the site upgraded their payment platform, I can’t deposit via Visa Debit at Whitehat sites, which seems strange. Not going out of my way to use another method so their loss.

Merry Christmas from Bonanza, played much higher stakes than usual, finally landed the D after stripping me of £280 on £2 stake and taking about an hour to land. It only goes and retriggers, get all excited only to realize I'm playing Bonanza so here have 3 wins in your 17 spin feature and have a paltry 8x for your troubles.

I would've attached a screenshot but I was too busy punching my eye socket. Time to hit the drinks, Merry Xmas all haha.
